1.

When do the Courses begin?


Medical and Dental Courses are scheduled to begin from 01/08/2010.

Engineering and B.Arch courses are scheduled to begin from 01/09/2010.

What is the eligibility for the MBBS/BDS Course?


General Merit Candidates should have passed the qualifying examination which is 2nd PUC or 10+2 higher secondary or equivalent examination, recognized by State / Central Government.The last two years of study shall comprise of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) with English as a compulsory subject. As per the Medical Council of India (MCI) and Dental Council of India (DCI) norms the candidates must have passed these subjects individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% of marks taken together in PCB, Further must secure not less than 50% marks in PCB in the Common Entrance Test (COMEDK UGET-2010).

SC, ST and OBC Candidates of Karnataka should have passed the qualifying examination which is 2nd PUC or 10+2 higher secondary or equivalent examination, recognized by State / Central Government. The last two years of study shall comprise of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) with English as a compulsory subject. As per the Medical Council of India (MCI) and Dental Council of India (DCI) norms the candidates must have passed these subjects individually and must have obtained a minimum of 40% of marks taken together in PCB. Further must secure not less than 40% marks in PCB in the Common Entrance Test (COMEDK UGET-2010).

He/she shall complete the age of 17 years on or before 31st December (31/12/2010) of the year of admission to the MBBS/BDS course.

What is the eligibility for the B.E. Course?


General Merit Candidates, should have passed the qualifying examination which is 2nd PUC or 10+2 higher secondary or equivalent qualifying Examination recognized by State / Central Government with a minimum aggregate of 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) and should have passed these subjects individually. Physics and Mathematics are compulsory subjects along with Chemistry or Biotechnology or Computer Science or Biology or Electronics as one of the optional subjects. English as one of the language of study is compulsory. There is no minimum marks fixed for entrance test. Hence all candidates who have taken the entrance test will find a place in the merit list as per their performance.

SC, ST and OBC candidates of Karnataka the aggregate marks in PCM should not be less than 40% in the qualifying examination as mentioned above. All other details remain the same.

What is the eligibility for the  B.Arch Course?


A candidate who has passed the qualifying examination (2nd PUC or 10+2 higher secondary or equivalent examination) with Mathematics as one of the subjects along with other subjects or a 10+3 Diploma recognized by Central / State Government and having obtained at least 50% marks in aggregate (45% marks in case of SC/ST and OBC Candidates of Karnataka). Further the candidate should have appeared for National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) conducted by Council of Architecture with a minimum score of 80 out of 200 for both general merit and category candidates.

COMEDK will not be conducting any Common Entrance Test for candidates seeking admission to B. Arch (Architecture Course) as per existing rules.

Note: Candidates seeking B. Arch seats should submit separate application form along with a DD of Rs. 500/- in favour of COMEDK. Online application form will be issued from 21-05-2010.

Are the admissions open only to Karnataka students?


No. Admissions are open to all the students across the country.

 

6.

Are candidates applying from outside the State of Karnataka eligible to get the benefit of lower eligibility qualifying marks?


No. Candidates applying from outside the State of Karnataka are not eligible to get the benefit of lower eligibility qualifying marks.

 

7.

Are candidates applying from the Karnataka State eligible to get the benefit of lower eligibility qualifying marks?


Yes, in the case of SC, ST and OBC candidates of Karnataka can seek the benefit of lower eligibility in qualifying marks provided the certificates as applicable issued by the competent authorities is furnished in support of the claim.

 

8.

I have finished my PUC/INTER/HSC/+2 a few years ago. Am I eligible for these courses?


Yes. You can apply for the notified courses, if you fulfill the eligibility requirements as mentioned.

 

9.

Is there an age limit for the course?


Yes. He/she shall complete the age of 17 years on or before 31st December of the year of admission to the MBBS/BDS Courses.

 

10.

Although I am eligible, I am currently enrolled in another course. Will I be permitted to join?


Yes. You are eligible to join if you have the basic eligibility as mentioned.

 

11.

I have completed my diploma course. Can I apply to COMEDK and its member colleges for 2nd year / 3rd semester?


No. This notification is only for admissions to the 1st year/semester in MBBS, BDS and BE. Thus, you cannot apply for the 2nd Year (lateral entry scheme).

 

12.

How will I know my test results?


Test results are intimated to candidates. The results are also published on the web site.

 

13.

When is the last date to apply?


Completed application forms must reach the office of COMEDK on or before 17/04/2010 Applications received after the stipulated date and time will be rejected.

 

14.

What are the enclosures to be made along with the applications?


The following documents have to be sent along with the filled in application form as enclosures

Note: Send the Application in A4 size envelops only. Do not fold the application form.

Kindly arrange the documents in the following order:

  • Demand Draft drawn in favour of "COMEDK" payable at Bangalore (mention your application number and applicant name on the back of Demand Draft).
  • Additional colour photograph (mention your application number on the back of the photograph)

  • COMEDK Application form.

  • Online COMEDK copy of Date of Birth Certificate /Identity Proof in the prescribed form duly attested by the head of the institution where he/she has studied last or Gazetted officer not below the rank of Tahsildar of the area in which he/she is a resident.

Note : Avoid stapling of Demand Draft and additional photograph to the application form. Instead use clips.

Any application received by COMEDK without the required enclosures will be liable for rejcetion.

15.

I wish to apply for Medical/Dental and Engineering courses. Should I apply for each of them separately or can I apply through a single application for both of them?


No, you can apply to any/all of Medical/Dental and Engineering courses in a single form. You can indicate your preferences for each of them in the same application form. You have to provide demand draft for Rs.700 in case of you taking only MBBS/BDS (PCB) or BE (PCM). In case you are taking all the four subjects MBBS/BDS and BE (PCMB) you have to send a demand draft for Rs 900.

 

16.

Is there any minimum marks to be scored in COMEDK UGET-2010?


MBBS/BDS: A candidate is required to secure a minimum of 50% for General category and 40% for those belonging to Schedule Caste / Schedule tribe and other backward Classes of Karnataka in the COMEDK UGET-2010 to be eligible for admission to MBBS/BDS.

B.E: For admission to B.E. there is no minimum marks fixed for entrance test. Hence all candidates who have taken the entrance test will find a place in the merit list as per their performance.

 

17. Can I send a black & white photograph?

No, the Photograph to be provided has to be in Colour and clear and should not be more than 6 months old. Application with smudged/tampered or hazy photograph will not be accepted.

 

18. If I have 5 clarifications in the answer key, then do I send a DD of Rs.200 or Rs.1000?

You have to send a single DD of Rs.1000. (Rs.200 per clarification) along with the format (Appendix- I of Brochure)

 

19. I want to seek clarification of my test score. Should I send a DD for Rs. 200/-

Yes you have to send a DD for Rs. 200/- along with the format of seeking test score clarification. (Appendix- II of Brochure)

 

20. Would I get a refund for the amount, which I have sent along with my clarification/s?

Yes, you would be entitled for a refund only if your clarification/s is/are upheld by the academic committee or your claim for clarification of test score is upheld.

 

21. Where should the applications be sent and to whom should it be addressed?

22. What is a minority Institution and who is eligible to be admitted under minority Quota?

Minority institutions are broadly of two types – 1) Religious minority 2) Linguistic minority.
Linguistic Minority: Candidates belonging to Karnataka State only are eligible to claim the minority status. Minority College is entitled to admit candidates from their own minority group only. Candidates seeking admission only under minority status should have secured not less than 50% just as General candidates in COMEDK UGET 2010.


Religious Minority: Candidates (Christian) belonging to the State of Karnataka are only eligible in the first round of counseling. However in the event of any vacancy in the second round (Minority round) the candidate belonging to the religious minority (Christian) from other State would be eligible. Candidates seeking admission only under minority status should have secured not less than 50% just as General candidates in COMEDK UGET 2010.
